Watercolor on Arches 300lb R

Something I did last year. I tried to do a "faster" painting as I take a long time for each of my works, and I really don't like it very much as I really like more detail and realism, I guess I will see what you all think, please be honest.

Well, I couldn't get it real large, but from what I can see. I'd have to agree with you. If someone doesn't take time to leave the blank spaces, colors just don't go over other colors very well? I hope that makes sense...? I assume you use masking material of some kind normally? So, while the gold paint for the leaves is pretty opaque, it isn't the same as if you could have had white paper underneath. Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely painting, your skill is obvious, but I've liked your other work so far much better :D

Totally makes sense. I think I painted some of the leaves first and then masked them, the other ones that I wanted darker , I just used the spatter method, Maybe not enough value contrast also?thanks for your honesty about what you see, appreciate it.
